April 17th 2008

It took us a few years but our sweet little girl was finally here. It all started around 12:30 am on April 16th. I was starting to have some pretty good contractions but they were about twenty minutes apart. I had a doctor's appointment that day so we decided to wait and see what he had to say. So around 2:00 we (Scott & I) are sitting in the waiting room and it was taking alot longer than usual. By now my contractions were about six minutes apart so Scott went up to the front desk and said I think my wife is in labor do you think we could hurry things up. They took me right back (so next time you are in a waiting room forever just claim you are in labor that will make them hurry!) to see the doctor. Doctor Hansen checked me and I was dialated to a two (which is where I had been for a couple of weeks now). He said that the baby would proboably come in 24 hours or so and to go home and get some rest. We went home and I could not rest. I was starting to be in a lot of pain and finally (3 hours later) we went to the hospital. At first I thought maybe I was just being a wimp but when the nurse checked me I was already at a five and a half. So I got an epidural right away (which is my new favorite invention) and could finally do the relaxing the doctor told me to do.
At 1:39 am on April 17th Marli Jade introduced herself to us with a big healthy cry. At 8 pounds 11.2 ounces and twenty inches long I could not believe a baby her size fit inside me. But she was the most beautiful thing I had ever laid my eyes on and we were both so happy to have such a healthy baby.

What a blessed event for you, Scott and even us, the grandparents. We love you all. Thanks for the blog. It's great!
