Since baby Syd has joined our family I've come to realize how much I don't remember about Marli growing up. It makes me sad...so I want to write about this very stubborn moment we all had. Then I can remember the good and the bad.
So it started as such a great day we had played all day, just got back from the park, and decided to bbq and eat out on the deck. Now being a picky eater myself I've never made Marli eat all of her dinner. Because if it is something she doesn't like we are not about to make her gag it down, BUT we have always wanted her to try things before she declares that it is yucky! Anyway she has finished all her dinner except her corn and we are telling her that she needs to at least have a bite (she's had corn before) but she totally wouldn't. Next thing I know we have all these threats happening like you can't get up until you've tried one bite (one kernel really!). Then she's throwing a fit so we are like okay if you're not going to act like a big girl then you don't get to chew gum all day tomorrow and no bed time story tonight. None of these threats are working so we are thinking crap lets start bribery! You can have a popsicle if you just have ONE tiny little kernel. Now she's wailing more because she really wants a popsicle and the neighbors are probably thinking we are beating her. Needless to say over an hour later, AN HOUR she still wasn't budging but it was bed time so we let her get up to go get ready for bed.
Now I'm not sure how one piece of corn got so out of control or who won this battle, but I guess at least we stuck to all of our (stupid) threats. Even if she is damaged from trying corn ever again!

Joys of parenthood. Brings back some memories ... and we all survived.
